European Job Market Visualizer

This is a research tool that visualizes over 400 occupations from the ESCO framework, covering the European job market. Each rectangle's area is proportional to total employment. Color shows the selected metric — toggle between projected growth outlook, median pay, education requirements, and AI exposure. Click any tile or node to view its detailed profile and ESCO data.
LLM-powered coloring: The pipeline scores each occupation via Gemini. The "Digital AI Exposure" metric estimates how much current AI will reshape each occupation based on routine digital knowledge processing vs hands-on real-world interaction.
Acknowledgements & Credits: Based on the original open-source visualizer by Andrej Karpathy (karpathy.ai/jobs), expanded and adapted for the European Union with 27 Eurostat datasets, 24 official EU languages, 2D Scatter Matrix, Country Benchmark, and embeddable widgets.

Caveat on Digital AI Exposure scores: These are rough LLM estimates, not rigorous predictions. A high score does not predict the job will disappear. Software developers score 9/10 because AI is transforming their work — but demand for software could easily grow as each developer becomes more productive.
Data Methodology: Total Employment reflects exact Eurostat census figures. Growth, Pay, and Education metrics are algorithmic approximations imputed directly from official Eurostat 2-digit broad category averages.
